Wodonga - Term 3, 2013 - The CUBE

Around 200 students from the Wodonga Area took part in the North East School Environment Day at the CUBE on Thursday the 8th August. The venue was ideal for a cold wintery day, and apart from some wet ground, all 12 workshops proceeded as planned. All students also learnt about Rubbish Free Lunches - the day providing a good model for implementing this practice.

The day involved a great team of presenters from the City of Wodonga, Landcare, North East Water, North East Catchment Management Authority, NevRwaste, Cleanaway, Australian Platypus Conservancy, the Department of Environment and Primary Industries, SES, Wirraminna EEC and a special workshop delivered by some secondary students from Frayne College in Baranduda.

The day ran very smoothly and the variety provided by these presenters was fantastic. Some of the comments from the children included:

  • "I learnt a lot of new stuff"
  • "The activities were really good fun"
  • "I didn't know all that about a platypus. It was great"
  • "That was awesome"
