YThe first of 2015's Student Environment Days was held in Yackandandah in the Indigo Shire on March 12th. The Sports Complex provided an idyllic venue for this event with its bushland, creek, shaded and open areas and indoor facilities. The day was attended by around 150 students from 5 schools. There were some great workshops presented by Habitat Protection and Enhancement, Landcare, North East Water, State Emergency Service and the Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre as well as presenters from the Indigo Shire, North East Waste & Resource Recovery Group and North East Catchment Management Authority. The feedback from participants was wonderful and I would like to thank the Indigo Shire for their support of this event and for the awesome workshops they presented. The event expects all its participants to be Rubbish Free, Water Wise and Sun Smart.
The SEED website provides many curriculum materials and links to further information to support the learning of both teachers and students in environmental education, enabling the learning from this day to continue back in the classrooms later.
